Step by step directions:

Review the usage agreements

Have a valid UCID (University Computing ID) and password

Locate an Active Mobile Network Connection

Connect your Ethernet cable to the port.

The correct cable to use is a CAT5 with RJ45 connectors these cables are
round in shape and have a large snap in connector.
Cables are for sale at the PC Store in the Student Mall.

Do Not Use standard telephone or serial cables. These cables are flat,
a silvery gray and may have smaller snap in connectors. Using the wrong
cable will cause you to have no connection and could damage the port or
your network card.

Connect the correct cable to the active wall plate and your computers Network
Interface Card.

Set your workstation to use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration
Protocol)

Configuring DHCP for Windows NT 4.0.

Reboot
-
Your computer should be turned on or rebooted after the cable is
connected, or if the cable is removed an reconnected after a period of
time.

Authenticate
your workstation (Logon) for network access.

Verify you have your UCID and password as noted above.
