A new dedicated outgoing mail server has been installed for the Residence Hall and Mobile networks. You will need to configure your mail client as per these directions in order to send mail from the Residence Hall and Mobile networks.

Configuration Procedure at a Glance:

1. Set your outgoing SMTP server to dormmail-gw.njit.edu.
2. Set your email address and reply-to address to your njit.edu, mailhost.njit.edu or afs.njit.edu email address.

For example:
abc1234@njit.edu
abc1234@mailhost.njit.edu
abc1234@afs.njit.edu

In Netscape version 3.XX:

1. Start Netscape 3.XX
2. Select from the Menu Bar: Options,
3. Then Select Mail and News Preferences, and
4. Click on the Servers tab

Enter dormmail-gw.njit.edu as your Outgoing Mail SMTP server
Note: Do not change your Incoming Mail Server.
5. Click on Identity tab
6. Enter your fully qualified mailhost or UCID email address in the Your Email and Reply-to-Address fields.

For Example, if your account name is abc1234 and you use mailhost
Enter abc1234@njit.edu or if you preffer Enter abc1234@mailhost.njit.edu, or abc1234@afs.njit.edu
7. Click OK

1. Start Netscape 4.XX
2. Select from the Menu Bar Edit,
3. Then Select Preferences
4. Double Click on the + Mail &Groups to expand that option
5. Click on Idenity, and in the window to the Right make the following changes:

Enter your fully qualified mailhost or UCID email address in the Email Address and Reply-to-Address fields.
For Example, if your account name is abc1234 and you use mailhost
Enter abc1234@mailhost.njit.edu
6. Click on Mail Servers, and in the window to the right make the following changes:

In the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server: field enter dormmail-gw.njit.edu
In the Outgoing Mail Server Username: field enter your valid Mailhost, or Highlander AFS Account name.
Do not change your Incoming Mail servers.
7. Click OK
