Configuring the Windows NT Workstation
TCP/IP Stack for the Academic Domain
You must have your lan card already installed and configured.
You can do this by selecting the Add/Remove Hardware icon
in the Control Panel screen. Remember the Network Interface
sold in the PC Store is SMC EtherEZ Model SMC 8416TA. If
you are uncertain how to install the Network Interface, please refer to
the instructions which came with the card.

Click: Start - Settings - Control Panel

Click: Network Icon

Then Click the change button
-
Your Computer Name must be set to your ACADEMIC domain
username followed by -"PC" , for example, if your Academic username is
ABC1234 then your Computer Name is ABC1234-PC .

Click OK

Click the Change button
-
Place the Bullet next to Domain.

In the blank space field next to Domain, enter the
word ACADEMIC

Click OK
-
You should receive a message Welcome to Academic

Click OK
-
Click OK
-
Answer no you would not like to reboot your computer

Click : Start-Programs-Administrative Tools (Common)–User
Manager

Find the Administrator group on the bottom half of the screen
in the Group List and Double Click it

Click the ADD button
-
Scroll through the user list and find your Academic account
name and Double Click it, this should add it to the list.

Click OK
-
Click OK
-
Exit user manager
-
Reboot your computer
-
When your computer reboots after you click Control Alt Delete
switch the domain field from abc1234-pc to ACADEMIC

Logon using your Academic Domain account name and password
