Minimum Requirements for Distribution PCs prior
to 1994 and any PC in General
The goal is to have an 80386 technology PC or higher. This PC should be able to run Windows 95, or the NT Workstation operating systems. In order to run one of these operation systems and connect to the Residence Hall network you will need at least 8 megs of memory and a 100 megabyte hard drive. Since Netscape and other web browsers are graphically intense, you should also have a Super VGA graphics card capable of supporting at least 256 colors in Windows.
Students who have machines that cannot run Windows, such as 80286 CPU PCs and XT or AT computers, cannot run graphical web browser like Netscape, or Windows based Telnet and FTP. Furthermore, students who do not install or upgrade to Windows 95/NT Workstation or an operating system which supports DHCP cannot run the required Windows TCP/IP protocol stack. Most Network connectivity applications only run under windows and a windows based TCP/IP protocol stack. If a student has one of these computers, and/or does not wish to upgrade, they cannot connect to the NJIT residence hall network
Minimum system requirements:
80386 PC with 8 megs of memory, 100 meg hard drive, and SVGA.
