The table on this page shows a list of area ISP's. The list was gathered from those ISP's currently being used to access NJIT. The list is not intended to show a preference of one ISP over another but only suggests some possible ISP choices.

If you are concerned about phone toll charges, make sure to check that the ISP you are selecting has a Dial-up number that is a local call for you. You can check the dial-up phone number against the tables in the Local Calling section of the Customer Guide in your telephone directory. You can also call service at 611 and ask if the number is a local or toll call.

When selecting an ISP you should confirm  that it supports a VPN connection using the IPSec protocol suite. The ISP's listed in the table have been confirmed to support connectivity to NJIT's VPN service.

A note to those considering DSL. Standard DSL configurations use a connection method called IP hosting. The DSL connection device has a real IP address. The computer(s) are then connected to a LAN using a locally defined set of IP addresses. The DSL device hosts these local addresses on the Internet permitting access. The use of a VPN client in this configuration is not necessarily supported. The DSL provider must provision the DSL connection device to support a VPN session using IPSec protocols. If you intend to use NJIT's VPN service with a DSL provider please verify that the provide will support the service.
